YTG UPDATES

Jekyll & Hyde Showcase

  • As usual, I found myself totally overloaded
  • Marie was a huge help
  • But not enough time to both finish the show and do the heavy promotion needed
    • I was the one programming Isadora and the lighting console
  • No all-nighters, but some late nights
  • Kind of worth it; the visuals were pretty stunning given the low budget
    • I hope to be able to spend time in the theatre before May to play with other possibilities
    • Want to experiment with floor projection
    • May even buy a third projector, though not sure I can run it off the same computer, which would be a problem
  • Low audience turnout, even online
  • Great feedback sessions
    • Real food for thought
  • Some complaints about the video sources looking like stock photos– of course, those were the ones that I delegated— that’ll teach me to delegate, right?
  • I’m still processing; haven’t done a post-mortem yet
  • Solid base for moving into summer show
  • Feeling pretty burnt out and scrambling to catch up with everything this week… and actually probably all of April

Other YTG

  • I need to start intern wrangling for the summer
  • From April 10, I will have 4 interns that I can use
  • I need to list all the projects and see what they can help with; possibly wrangling the other interns is one of them
  • Had a chat with Tanja Råman from Taikabox about doing a live show performed simultaneously with an artist here and her in Finland.
  • Need to set up a meeting with her and Yanomi Shoshinz (Miss Hiccup)
  • Will look for funding sources

OTHER

  • Sakura shoot tomorrow. Need to scout the shoot area today to make sure there are still blossoms in those areas.
  • Netflix project moving forward; there are some challenges as I’ve been hired to replace another actor, but not told why he was replaced– but I’m matching his performance
  • Big cashflow crunch right now as the Netflix job won’t pay out until the end of May (actually, that’s very quick for that kind of work)
    • Kind of scrambling to make ends meet
  • Taxes are delayed
  • All other work is delayed
  • Kid is out of school until next Friday, and I want to spend at least two days, maybe three with him next week
  • Week after, I go into the recording studio and the two new interns arrive
  • Feeling really overloaded
  • Will try to get back onto an early-in-the week schedule for this recording, but it’s going to be a struggle.
  • It’s important to me to have one thing that is consistent and that I can finish.
