Opening poem-in-progress: “Too F*cking Old”

Theatre in General
- Looks like the Romeo and Juliet didn’t need me after all
- I guess I took too long to reply (only one day longer than I said I’d need)
- Went to Montreal
- Met up with Catherine, show is on indefinite hold; don’t expect updates on this
- One of us might have a brilliant idea at some point
- Got the meet the Bete Noire horror festival gang
- Got a photo of myself with the Leonard Cohen mural
Music
- Went over to Pete’s place
- Working on a throwaway little song
- Ended up writing a kind of weird poem thing before I realized we were on the wrong track
- I’ve extracted the more political piece I wrote and it’s now the work-in-progress poem you heard at the top of this podcast
- It still feels more mean-spirited than I want it to in the more generic sections about getting old
- I stitched that backing track together myself: my first composition in Ableton live— wanted to do it to have done it. Will hopefully improve going forward
Sustainability Project
- Almost ready to launch
- Let me know if you want to look at it and give me advice
- The struggle is between long form because I want to talk about everything and go down every rabbit hole about why I think it’s a good idea, and short form so that people actually read it
- I’m coming to the point where I’m going to have to stop massaging and trust that people who know me will understand.
OTHER
- Heading back to Japan in 10 days (8 days as of this posting)
- Can’t wait to get back
- It also feels too soon
- So much I didn’t get done here
