In this update, the first of several that are going to pour into your inboxes and podcast apps over the next week, I look at what’s on the table for me in 2025. And yeah, it’s going to be a busy year.

Career pivot

  • I’ve started an online course to get a certificate in Project Management
  • Project management is connected to what I do running a theatre company

Theatre Stuff

  • INTERFERENCE
    • Strange show about connection between people
    • Has a strong fever-dream energy
    • Screenplay exists, but we need to remake it for the stage
    • Spring showcase on April 5/6
  • ANXIETY
    • Davion Brown is the writer and main actor
    • Sizeable funding, but not crazy money (way less than the grant we got in 2021 for Wuthering Heights)
    • Script exists, but there will be a lot of devising necessary to bring this to life
    • Will be involving Tania Coke in the movement aspects of the show
    • Davion wants to rehearse full-time, 5 days a week
    • Will need to rent a rehearsal space
  • Both shows
    • Will go up July 26/27
    • Aug 2/3 not available at venue
    • I’m not available after that
    • Money from ANXIETY means a season that will end in the black
    • I am going to be dead by August

  • YESTERDAY
    • New plan is to rehearse with actors in the winter
    • Raise money before spring
    • Start recording after the spring show
    • Anna can do her work as post- rather than pre- production

Podcasting (stretch goals)

  • Wayward Readers edit! (possible, but hard)
  • Record more episodes of Does It Hold Up and finally release the show (probably impossible given the amount of other projects I have going on)

Photography

  • Will probably get one or two corp jobs this year, but not holding my breath
  • No longer pursuing private shoots

Sustainability

  • I will leave the door open to people to support me
  • Focusing on the idea of me working for you
    • Take some aspects of project-based fundraising and use those
      • Really feature the projects I’m working on
      • Maybe their costs in terms of money and hours
      • Maybe people will respond to something a little more project-oriented

Other

  • No music projects on the horizon; too busy
  • Might play more with Suno, despite my misgivings about generative algos
  • Am planning a trip to Canada after the summer show
  • Found a jr high school for Hammy
  • I want to continue my current sleep schedule
    • Even though it makes working harder
