This week, Monique wasn’t available, so we didn’t do the morning movement workshops, which was a shame, because we had two more people joining us and those movement workshops are a great way to bring the group together. This week we said hello to Claire and Anna… and then goodbye to Anna, since she was an HS student only with us for two days.
On Monday, Clara ran the rehearsal and Flavia tried out some scenes. On Wednesday, we did a field trip to the YTG storage container to check out costumes, and much to my delight, Clara and Flavia volunteered to help organize the costume stock. WHAT?! WHO DOES THAT? Anyway, I am overjoyed to have that long-overdue project on the front burning this summer— although it does mean some expenses as we’ll have to buy seal-able boxes and desiccant.
The rest of Wednesday was spent doing acting exercises and working on archetypal relationships (prompted by an idea from Claire). We only got a little sidetracked talking about communism.
Claire’s idea was a relationship changing through time. Those are the shots that are faded to look like old Polaroids.
The show is going up August 17 and 18 both in-person and live on the internet (with recordings available for those who can’t watch it live). No showtimes are set yet, since this is a collectively created piece and we have no idea what the running time will be yet. However, if you want tickets, there are a few ways to make sure you get them.
- Go to the YTG crowdfunding website at https://sponsor.ytg.jp and make a donation of any amount. You’ll get a notice closer to the show date.
- Be on my mailing list (you can join it below), and buy the tickets when the show dates are announced.
- Be on my mailing list and email or message me a for a free ticket if you need one!
If you want to follow along through the creation process, I will try to post weekly updates here on this website (these posts will be sent out to mailing list members as well).
