This previous week… well, a lot of stuff happened, but the long and the short if it is that we started working in earnest on generating material for the show. I think the group now agrees with my suggestion that we focus on characters, theme, and images and allow the narrative to emerge on its own. I’m not sure everyone trusts that this will work, but for now we all seem to be on the same page. I missed the Monday rehearsals, but we started adding Thursday rehearsals.
Meanwhile, Amazon delivered the boxes for the costume inventory to my house instead of the theatre, so yesterday (Saturday), I went into Kawasaki with my friend Harry to drop them off at JDS. After that, Aleyna and I walked over to Unidy (hardware store) to price out wood, paint, and other items we’ll need for the set. Aleyna leaves on the 30th, so we’ve got to get the key parts of the set (the frame) built this coming week.
The stress starts from here…
The show is going up August 17 and 18 both in-person and live on the internet (with recordings available for those who can’t watch it live).
The showtimes have finally been posted! At the moment, we have shows scheduled at 11:00 and 21:00 on the 17th, and at 15:00 on the 18th (Japan Standard Time). We may be adding an afternoon show on the 17th to accomodate the JDS kids.
You can buy tickets to watch in person or online at https://ytg.jp/working-title-oblique or use the ticket boxes below! If theatre tickets are out of your budget right now or if you’re supporting me here, hit me up for a comp (free ticket)! Your attention and eyes are valuable to me!
If you want to follow along through the creation process, I will try to post weekly updates here on this website (these posts will be sent out to mailing list members as well).
