Yokohama Street Photography

The family and I went for a long walk down to the area around Higashi-Totsuka station this past Sunday and I brought along my X-T30 with my trusty 28mm Industar-69. The vintage (read: cheap) coating on the Industar produces a dreamy effect as bright areas of the frame produce a glowy, hazy, bloom. When I shoot wide open, the edges of the frame are also out of focus, which adds to the dreamy effect.

This area of the city is newer than a lot of the street photos I’ve posted before, so the construction is more modern and the streets are more open and lined with trees. (However, the little restaurant we ate at was a more typical Showa-era style.) It’s a look you don’t see a lot because it’s less striking than old-school buildings and neighbourhoods and it looks less alien to North Americans. However, I thought it would be nice to show a little bit of this part of Japan.

Enjoy!
